OneCarolina project receives honor from state organization

University Technology Services (UTS) was recently honored by the South Carolina Government Management Information Sciences (SC.GMIS) organization with the Elite Achiever’s Award. The SC.GMIS Elite Achievers Award is presented annually to a member agency that demonstrates outstanding achievement in the implementation of creative information technology. UTS received the award based on the implementation of OneCarolina, phase 1.

Phase 1 of the OneCarolina project radically changed the way the University of South Carolina does business on a day-to-day basis. New systems for admissions, financial aid, class records and registration, and bill payment were implemented. The web-based applications at the heart of OneCarolina allow students, faculty, and staff to easily perform many of the things essential to the university experience, like apply for admission and register for classes.

Bill Hogue, chief information officer and vice president for information technology, said the OneCarolina project was “the single largest business transformation project in the history of the University of South Carolina.”
