Equity Summit

November 20-22, 2019

The Equity Summit creates a space for those actively engaged in race equity and inclusion efforts across the Southeast to lean on and learn from each other. It will also allow for the creation of a network, spanning the Southeast, of people working toward equity in a variety of fields: a systemic approach to a systemic issue.

The Second Annual Equity Summit broadens its focus to encompass four Southern cities that share similar histories, socioeconomic issues and cultures. Participants will come from Atlanta, Georgia; Birmingham, Alabama; Columbia, South Carolina; and Jackson, Mississippi. The three-day conference will take place Nov. 20-22, 2019, at the Nickelodeon Theatre and the South Carolina State Museum. We will start with a reception on the evening of Nov. 20 and preceding a screening of Dawnland, a keynote conversation with Esther Anne, co-founder of Maine-Wabanaki Reconciliation Engagement Advocacy Change Healing. The talk will be followed by a conversation with members of the South Carolina Indian Affairs Commission. The following two days will be at the South Carolina State Museum.
