More about Andrew:

Andrew Peterson, a native of Columbia, SC, brings over 15 years of culinary experience to the table. After relocating to Charleston, SC, he began cooking while in college and decided to pursue a full-time culinary career. Andrew honed his skills in some of Charleston’s finest restaurants before moving to St. Simons Island, where he worked at the Sea Island Resort under a French Master Chef. In 2014, he relocated to Atlanta to assist with his first restaurant opening and went on to lead two prominent establishments as Executive Chef: La Tavola and The Iberian Pig. In 2024, after traveling to his wife’s home in Vietnam, Andrew returned to Columbia to be closer to family and establish his roots where his journey began.

What is your favorite memory associated with food?
When I was a kid my dad was always in the kitchen. He loved making things from scratch and trying new recipes. I cherished those times I spent in the kitchen with him learning to cook at a young age, and enjoying the meals we made as a family.

What is a fun fact that the students should know about you?
I grew up in Columbia, SC before relocating numerous times for career opportunities. When I was a teenager I was big into the local hardcore punk scene here in Columbia, and was always hanging around New Brookland Tavern in its original home on State Street.

What advice do you have for anyone learning to cook for themselves?
Learn simple techniques and processes and build on them slowly. Simple food is often best so don't feel like you have to do anything extravagant to make a delicious meal. Have fun and enjoy the process. Good food takes time.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
