Training Procedures
Digital accessibility training will be:
- A repeatable program that teaches accessibility standards both general to WCAG Level AA and specific to UofSC.
- Specific to the sets of tasks that content creators and managers at the university complete in the normal course of their work.
- Scheduled regularly each semester to train those newly responsible for content at the university.
- Completed at trainees' own pace via an online learning platform with evaluation modules.
Groups of Trainees
Each of these groups has a specific set of content tasks they need to complete on a regular basis. Training will cover those tasks for each group.
Faculty & Instructors
Trained in making the following accessible:
- Documents and Presentations
- Audio and Video Files
- Images and Charts
Content Creators
Trained in making the following accessible:
- Web Pages (if working in OU Campus)
- Documents and Presentations
- Audio and Video Files
- Images and Infographics
- Social Media Posts and Stories
Site Managers
Trained in making the following accessible:
- Web Pages
- Documents and Presentations
- Audio and Video Files
- Images, infographics, Charts
Developers
Trained in making the following accessible:
- All Code and Markup
- Web Pages and Tool/App Screens
- Images
Accessibility Liaison Onboarding & Training
Trained in the following:
- All Non-Markup Areas of Digital Accessibility
- OU Campus Specific Accessibility Instructions
- Responding to Accessibility Questions
- Reviewing for Accessibility Compliance (automated and manual testing)
Escalated Training
If a particular individual or unit repeatedly fails accessibility guidelines over time, they may be required to complete escalated training to address specific and/or ongoing issues causing repeated compliance failure.
