Model Online Course for Distributed Learning

The Instructional Design team at the Center for Teaching Excellence has compiled components from several courses to create two model courses to give you an idea of how to create a distributed learning course. One course is designed in Blackboard Original View and one course is designed in Blackboard Ultra Course View.

How to Self-Enroll (Blackboard Original View)

  1. Log into Blackboard with your username and password
  2. Go into Courses from the global menu and you will see a button for Course Catalog in the upper right side of the screen.
  3. Click Course Catalog.
  4. In the Search Catalog, type Distributed Learning Sample Course in the box next to Course Name Contains.
  5. Click [Go]. You will see a list of the courses that allow Guest access and that allow Self-Enrollment.
  6. Click on the dropdown beside the course ID (DIS-LEARN-SAMPLE)
  7. Choose Enroll.
  8. You will be given information about the course.
  9. Click [Submit] to continue.
  10. You will get confirmation that you have enrolled, and it will say to ‘Select OK to continue to the course.’
  11. Click [OK] in the bottom right side of the screen. It will take you into the course.

Blackboard Ultra Course View (UCV) Model Course
