1. Regardless of individual course grades, students must maintain a minimum 2.000 institutional GPA.
2. Some colleges require a minimum GPA for major courses. Courses indicated in this column are included in the major GPA for this program of study.
3. Students in the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences are required to demonstrate proficiency in one foreign language equivalent to the 122 course through course credit or the corresponding foreign language placement score.
4. The Carolina Core provides the common core of knowledge, skill and academic experience for all Carolina undergraduate students.
5. Cyber Policy and Ethics Major Courses: Students must fulfill the hours for each category below (see bulletin for course options). No more than 9 credit hours at the 200-level may be taken for credit towards the major requirements. Selection of major course must include at least one Carolina Core Integrative course: CYBR 399, 498, 499; POLI 315, 451; PYSC 430 or 440.
   • Cyber Tools and Digital Skills (9 hours)
   • Global Cyber Cultures (3 hours)
   • Governance and Policy (9 hours)
   • Society and Ethics (9 hours)
6. Students may not use courses in foreign language towards the Fine Arts or Humanities requirement, as those courses will count toward the Supporting Courses Foreign Language requirement. Students in the Cyber Policy and Ethics major must complete foreign language(s) beyond the 122-level required by the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences. Students may meet this requirement in two ways:
   • One language completed through 6 hours at the 300 level, or
   • Two languages distributed as follows:
     • Carolina Core GFL language continued through 6 hours at the 200 level, and a
     • Second language completed through the 122 level, which may require from 6 to 9 hours, depending on whether the language begins with 109 or 121.
   Note: The number of hours that students must take to fulfill this requirement will depend upon their proficiency in the language, e.g. students who test into 300-level of a language would not need to take the 200-level prerequisites and would only need 6 hours to meet this requirement. Additionally, should students choose to add a foreign language minor or foreign language as a second major and successfully complete course requirements, then this will satisfy the foreign language requirement for the Cyber Policy and Ethics major. This requirement may be satisfied through foreign language placement tests.
7. No courses of a remedial, developmental, skill-acquiring, or vocational nature may apply as credit toward degrees in the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences. The McCausland College of Arts and Sciences allows the use of the Pass-Fail option on elective courses. Further clarification on inapplicable courses can be obtained from the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences.
8. The McCausland College of Arts and Sciences requires one U.S. History and one non-U.S. History course, both of which must be chosen from the approved Carolina Core GHS courses. Whichever is not fulfilled through the Carolina Core GHS requirement must be fulfilled through this college requirement.

Program Notes

• Courses identified as “critical” must be completed in the student’s first 60 semester hours of work in order for these courses to be credited toward graduation.
• All undergraduate students must take a 3-credit course or its equivalent with a passing grade that covers the founding documents. This course may fulfill any requirement in the program of study. Courses that meet this requirement are listed in the academic bulletin.
• The last 30 credit hours toward your degree must be earned in residence at the University of South Carolina-Columbia.
