Background
Sarah advises students pursuing Graduation with Leadership Distinction and guides students in developing ePortfolios. She oversees marketing efforts for CIEL initiatives and supervises a marketing intern. In addition, she oversees GLD alumni engagement.
Sarah is a first-generation college graduate from northern New York. While in college, she participated in student government, held leadership roles in the Geology Club, worked in a hydrogeochemistry lab, and interned with her hometown’s soil and water conservation district. That internship led to her first job after college in an environmental consulting firm outside of Washington, DC.
After some intentional reflection, she shifted career paths and translated these experiences to service as an AmeriCorps VISTA at Columbia College, bringing her to South Carolina and introducing her to student affairs as a potential career field. At Columbia College, she coordinated community service and service-learning – from partner meetings to volunteer recruitment to assessment. After two years of service and a brief stint at a children’s museum as an HR manager and volunteer coordinator, she pursued her M.Ed. at USC. While in grad school, Sarah worked in the areas of student government, orientation, student org leadership development and multicultural student affairs.
Sarah knows firsthand the value of reflecting on your experiences and how what you learn about yourself during those experiences informs the choices you make regarding life and career. Supporting students as they make meaning of their own experiences and consider how they translate to post-graduation opportunities is tremendously important and rewarding work.
Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and son. She also loves reading, exercise, and porch-sitting and serving with a women’s service organization.
