Background

Gina advises students pursuing Graduation with Leadership Distinction and guides students in developing ePortfolios. She manages the GLD application database and ensures student applications are accurately and independently verified. Gina also supports CIEL by overseeing the Student Advisory Council, a group of students from all parts of campus who serve as a focus group for needed feedback on university initiatives and programmatic developments.

Gina was a first-generation and non-traditional college student. Prior to working in CIEL, Gina worked in social services case management, research protections compliance, and mental health administrative management. Throughout Gina’s collegiate career, she worked and interned in various on-campus jobs at Georgia Southern University and Appalachian State University. After graduating with her master’s degree, she reflected on the value, learning, and joy working on a college campus brought throughout her own college years, and she feels grateful that CIEL now provides an opportunity to work with such exceptional students.

Gina is from Statesboro, Georgia and finds enjoyment in many hobbies including making pottery, playing board games, hiking, and cross stitching (several of which, you’ll find hanging in her office). She loves finding great food spots in Columbia and has a love for sweet treats and coffee.
