Header Page Title* This element contains the identifying name appearing in white, all-caps type at the top of each page. It should not be confused with the HTML Title Tag of the page that is displayed on the browser window.
The Header Page Title is layered with the South Carolina Banner and provided as a graphic in the template system. An image manipulation program such as Adobe PhotoShop must be used to change the wording. The text can change but the typographic style must remain the same.
The template contains three variations to accommodate short, medium, or long page titles. (See the typography section of this site for details and illustrations).
The individual Web master can choose to keep the same Header Page Title on every page of the site and use headlines in the content area of each page to clearly indicate specific content, or, like this site, have the Header Page Title change to reflect the content of the page, while still using headlines for clarity. No matter which method is chosen, the major headline or page title on each page should match the navigation menu button from which the page is linked. For example, the page title of this page matches the Naming Conventions menu button in the left navigation bar and the headline matches the Header Page Title menu item from the list of links below.
