USC law school names associate dean

The School of Law has announced that Susan Palmer will be its new associate dean for student affairs.

Susan Palmer
Palmer is currently associate dean for admissions at the University of Virginia School of Law. She will begin her tenure at Carolina by August 1.
A summa cum laude graduate of Washington and Lee University's School of Law in 1985, Palmer was editor-in-chief of that school's law review and a member of the Order of the Coif and of Omicron Delta Kappa honor society. After serving as a clerk in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, she returned to Washington and Lee where she served in a number of capacities at the law school.

In 2002, Palmer began her term as University of Virginia's associate dean for admissions.

Palmer has served on the Law School Admissions Council, including two terms as chairperson of the Workshop for New Admissions Personnel. She also has been a past chair of the Association of American Law Schools Section on Prelegal Education and Admission to Law, as well as a member of the Prelaw Committee of the American Bar Association.
