Williams-Brice Building
1975; College Of Nursing
The six-story complex has 13 classrooms with capacities varying from 30 to
302 students. It has a multipurpose television studio, a client simulated lab,
exam rooms, a statistics lab, an information resources center, and two study
rooms. Administrative and faculty offices are located throughout the building.
A $500,000 gift from the estate of the late Mrs. Martha Williams Brice
(1904-1969) of Sumter provided a significant portion of the funds which made
the building possible. Mrs. Brice provided for a bequest to the University,
and Philip Edwards and Thomas W. Edwards, her nephews and the executors of her
estate, chose the College of Nursing as an appropriate and worthy memorial to
honor the memories of Mrs. Brice and the Williams and Brice families. (See
also Williams-Brice Stadium).
