Higher education is essential to the future prosperity of South Carolina.

University of South Carolina alumni, students and supporters will head to the Statehouse Wednesday, Feb. 4, for Carolina Day and meet with elected officials from their districts to discuss the key role higher education plays in meeting South Carolina's future workforce demands and the importance of keeping a college education affordable.

Carolina Day is organized by My Carolina Alumni Association. The event runs 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. To participate, register online or by calling My Carolina at 800-476-8752. An $18 fee will defray the cost of lunch, which will take place at the Capital City Club and feature President Harris Pastides, Athletics Director Ray Tanner and My Carolina President Paula Harper Bethea.

Since 2004, Carolina Day at the Statehouse has been a catalyst for a public conversation about the central role that higher education and the university play in the future prosperity of the state.
