Student Life Follow-Up Activities
- Charge students with attendance at various campus/student organization activities (student organization fair, Carolina Productions event, Service Saturday, Group Fitness class, etc.) and reflect on participation;
- Select an organization or annual event and write paper on mission, goals, history, traditions and culture of that group;
- Identify areas of interest and how they will develop action plan for getting involved in comparable activities;
- Have students dream about starting their own student organization: what would it be, what would the organization's mission be and how would members be recruited?;
- Attend a Student Government Senate Meeting and report on the issues of concern being discussed/debated;
- Select one of the 7 Student Life departments and visit the area to collect brochures and materials and write reflection paper on what is discovered;
- Utilize content and articles in Transitions and The State newspaper and apply it to experiences attending student organization meetings, campus activities, and service projects;
- Create a list of skills or experiences they want to have/develop and design a plan for student involvement to help achieve these goals;
- Select an organization to join and write journal entry on attendance at first meeting;
- Read "Daily Gamecock" and reflect on how organizations or activities are portrayed;
- Participate in a community service activity and reflect on how the experience altered perception of the greater issue and its impact on Columbia and USC.
