1) Getting to Know Your Team-Teaching Partner
Questions for the instructor:
- How many years have you been teaching University 101?
- What got you interested in teaching/working with first-year students?
- What are your goals for the class? What are your goals for your PL/GL?
- How do you expect I can contribute to the class?
- How do you prefer to communicate with your PL or GL? (E-mail, phone, in person, etc.) How often would you like to meet in person?
- What other expectations do you have of me that we haven’t already discussed?
- What are your other interests and hobbies?
Questions for the peer/graduate leader:
- Why were you interested in becoming a PL/GL? What are you excited about in regards to teaching first-year students?
- What else are you involved in on campus? What is your major? What are your future plans?
- What are your goals for the class? For yourself as a PL/GL? What skills would you like to learn from being a PL?
- What do you see as your biggest strengths and challenges for this role?
- How do you see your role as being defined? What responsibilities would you like to have?
- How do you prefer to communicate with your instructor?
- In your experience as a student, what makes for a successful class?

Using the attached worksheet as a framework, please come to agreement on the roles and responsibilities of each team member. This list is not meant to be exhaustive, but rather a starting point for more clearly defining who will do what.
3) Strategies for achieving the University 101 learning outcomes
a. Select two learning outcomes and discuss the topics and methods that could lead to the achievement of these outcomes.
i. What strategies will you use to facilitate learning of these outcomes?
ii. What role will each of you play in this outcome/topic/lesson plan?
