Third Year Review

All untenured faculty members must be given a written evaluation of their progress toward tenure and promotion in the third year after appointment.

This evaluation may be performed by the unit tenure and promotions committee or as otherwise provided by Unit Criteria.

Additional information regarding Third Year Review can be found in ACAF 1.05 Tenure Progress Review of Faculty: Third Year Review.

Please contact the relevant department chair or dean for department- or college-specific Third Year Review guidelines.

Third Year Review Calendar

Third Year Review follows the Third Year Review Calendar in all cases. The Third Year Review Calendar is produced each year by the Provost Office. Faculty members should also contact their department chair or dean for department- or college-specific Third Year Review calendars and deadlines.

Tenure Clock and Post-Tenure Review Table

This table tracks when a faculty member becomes eligible for Third Year Review, Tenure or Promotion, based on the initial date of appointment. **Please note that the calendar does not take into account any changes to a faculty member’s clock, such as a tenure clock extension.

Third Year Review Forms
**New Microsoft Word Templates**
New form templates have been created to streamline the process for candidates when preparing their files. Candidates can choose to use the new templates, or to use the previous Phase I or Phase II versions if information has already been entered in those forms.

Submission Process
The Office of the Provost, in collaboration with the University Committee on Tenure and Promotion, developed two different submission processes for the 2010-2011 academic year.
