All gifts to the College of Social Work are welcome. We have a number of established funds which you may designate your gift to support. 

Our Funds

You may designate your gift to any of the College of Social Work funds described below. Our funds include college-wide support, program-specific support and college-affiliated institute and center support. When you give online, you will have an opportunity to specify your support area. If you would like to support one of the funds below, please select "Other" and enter the name of the fund in the text box.

Funds for College-wide Support
1A3226 – College of Social Work Carolina Fund

Supports the activities of the College of Social Work, including student needs, faculty retention and recruitment and other essential functions of the college.

A32133 – College of Social Work Faculty Fellowship Fund

Established as an opportunity for faculty members to support fellowships for undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. students through payroll deductions, one-time gifts or recurring gifts.

1C1483 – Sung-Soo Yang Endowed Professorship in International Social Work Education

Supports international doctoral students or international student travel in the College of Social Work.

A31644 – Science and Religion Fund

Supports annual lecture and students (any on campus who apply) to attend science and religion summer conferences at Cambridge and Oxford

Bachelor of Social Work Fellowships and Scholarships
A31996 – Undergraduate Social Work Student Association Scholarship Fund

Supports an upper division BSW student with demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to student(s) from underrepresented populations.

A32077 – The Anna Scheyett Pay It Forward Fellowship

Supports a BSW or master's student with financial need and an interest in social work with populations who struggle with financial insecurity.

Master of Social Work Fellowships and Scholarships
 B11042 – Tanya & Tom Carter Social Work Fellowship

Assists MSW students with a field placement in the Upstate of South Carolina.

C11050 – The Dorothea Crouch Kemp Fellowship Fund

Supports MSW students who has overcome a major life challenge and demonstrates financial need.

B11119 – Frank B. Raymond III Bicentennial Scholarship Fund

Supports full-time, foundation year (first-year) MSW students with superior undergraduate academic records and demonstrate financial need.

B1906 – Charles L. Gheen, Jr. Fellowship Fund

Assists students with severe family situations that have proved difficult for the applicant to further their education.

B11234 – Linda M. Summers Social Work Pioneer Fellowship

Supports Advanced Standing, advanced year (second-year) MSW students or Ph.D. students with outstanding academic performance, leadership and social work practice.

1B1837 – Margaret Gheen Hartzog Memorial Scholarship Fund           

Assists disabled students in the MSW or Ph.D. programs who are registered with the Office of Student Disability Services.

B11385 – Mike and Debra DuBose Scholarship Endowment Fund

Supports MSW students with demonstrated financial need from traditionally underrepresented populations.

B11438 – Sarah and Sallie Campbell Youth and Family Endowment Fund

Supports an MSW student whose focus is mental health social work and service to youth or families. Preference is given to student(s) in the Charleston area.

A31954 – College of Social Work Staff Fellowship Fund

Assists a non-resident MSW student who has demonstrated a commitment to serving vulnerable populations and improving the social well-being of communities.

Ph.D. Fellowships and Scholarships

Supports doctoral fellowships in the College of Social Work, focusing on Gerontology or children and families, with preference given to students interested in Gerontology.

I. DeQuincy Newman Institute for Peace and Social Justice
A31028 – I. DeQuincy Newman Institute for Peace and Social Justice

The Newman Institute promotes social justice through interdisciplinary education, consultation and research at the community, state, national and international levels.

1A3929 – I. DeQuincy Newman Lecture Series

Supports the Newman Institute's annual lecture series, featuring topics on social justice.

Institute for Families in Society
A31335 – Institute for Families in Society Fund

Supports general, non-restricted activities at the IFS.

A31992 – Andrew Billingsley Fund for Excellence in Supporting Families

Annual awards honoring one faculty member and one community member who works on behalf of African-American families.

1B1626 – Michael D. Smith & Alexander T. Smith Scholarship Fund

Supports a full-time undergraduate student from the Columbia campus who shows outstanding promise as a helping professional for children and families in need.
