As a pharmacy resident at Palmetto Health Richland, Karen McGee established clinical pharmacy services in 1990 for Palmetto SeniorCare, a PACE, long-term care option for frail elders in South Carolina's midlands region. McGee's passion for elder care extends to the classroom where she teaches students about medication use in the elderly. She was named Teacher of the Year in 2000.
McGee alse serves as an adjunct instructor for the USC School of Medicine where she teaches medical school students about medication use in the elderly. She is currently working on a grant with the USC/Palmetto Health Richland Geriatrics division to promote multi-disciplinary education of healthcare professionals in geriatric pharmacotherapy.
