The University of South Carolina College of Nursing (CON) is seeking a qualified candidate
to fill a full-time program director for the PhD in Nursing Science program and CON
faculty position. This position is an onsite appointment in Columbia, SC. In addition
to teaching, this administrative position includes opportunities for research/scholarship
activities. Faculty appointment and salary are commensurate with the level of teaching,
leadership, and scholarship
experience of the candidate.
The PhD in Nursing program at the University of South Carolina has a rich tradition with stellar graduates over the past three decades. The program is moving toward a hybrid model, with executive style delivery of 2-4 weekend sessions over the semester with additional interactive synchronous and asynchronous sessions between the face-to-face classroom experiences. The University of South Carolina is a recipient of the Robert Wood Johnson Future of Nurse Scholars grant, as well as significant internal funding to support our PhD students and program.
Registered nurse with earned doctorate in nursing. Tenure eligible, and meet criteria for rank appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank.
Candidates are expected to have an established record of successful participation in externally funded research grants, scientific collaboration with research faculty, and PhD-level student teaching and mentorship. We seek applicants with an active program of research, with a history of federal and other extramural funding, extensive experience with all facets of PhD education including student teaching and research mentorship, faculty mentorship, curricular development and implementation, along with formative and summative program evaluations, and academic leadership experience. Eligibility for RN licensure in South Carolina is required.
Evidence of successful academic administrative experience is preferred.
