Jillian Carey

Originally hailing from the Midwest, Jillian received her undergraduate degree in Theatre for the Musical Stage (a self-designed degree) from Carthage College and her graduate degree in Drama/Theatre for the Young from Eastern Michigan University. After multiple contracts across the country with various children’s theatres and a stint working for a charter school, she found herself working with the University of Michigan as a student services administrator. From there, seeking a warmer climate and a place to settle, she came to USC and most recently has landed here in the School of Music on behalf of the University Advising Center, ready to be a guide and a resource to music students within their curriculums and beyond.

Outside of her work on campus, you might find Jillian fueling her passion either on stage or teaching with one of the local theatre companies here in Columbia, spending time with her pup Pretzel, exploring what the sunny state has to offer, and discovering the follies of being a homeowner! She also has a love of tea, reading, trivia, museums, and traveling the world.

Jillian is proud to be an ally with
