Bio

Jason Trenary studied sound design, synthesis, piano performance, and composition at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX. After receiving a B.M. from ACU, Jason continued his studies and received a M.M. from the University of South Carolina, studying electronic music, music theory, and information technology.

Jason has served as the Director of Information Technology since 1997, directing the computer, server, and network infrastructure for the School of Music. Jason holds Apple Certified Technical Coordinator, Apple Certified System Administrator, and XSan professional certifications. Jason's technology focus is to provide high-quality computing infrastructures based upon Mac OS X and open source technologies, keeping server uptime and features inline with the highest business standards and efficiency.

"We must always provide a computing infrastructure that meets any demands of our faculty and students. As a state university, we must also never loose sight of the source of our funding and therefore spend every dollar with scrutiny. It can be challenging to work with what appears to be two opposing forces, high quality and low spending, but it can be done."

Sought for consultation by companies such as Apple Computer and Turner Studios as well as multiple universities and school systems throughout the U.S., Jason has built a reputation in the technical community as a subject matter expert on Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server, systems integration, and large scale infrastructures. On furlough, Jason co-authored "Mac OS X Deployment" for the Apple Training Series, published by Pearson Education in 2008.

Jason lives in northeast Columbia with his wife and two children and enjoys the outdoors of South Carolina from its lakes and rivers to the beautiful beaches and rich history of the surrounding areas.
