Music Education Professional Development Seminars and Certifications

Elementary General Level I and Elementary General Level II GIML Mastership Certifications

June 17–28, 2013

Early childhood, elementary, middle school and high school music teachers, piano teachers, instrumental teachers, musicians, professional performers and music education students interested in furthering their understanding of audiation and enhancing their teaching through an audiation approach, are eligible to enroll.

The framework for all classes in the certification course is provided by music learning theory, developed by Edwin E. Gordon. Unique practical applications of the theory and its use in elementary general music is presented by faculty who are experienced in teaching classes based on music learning theory. USC GIML Mastership Certifications are available for workshop credit, graduate credit or undergraduate credit.

Students who enroll in a Level 1 Mastership Certification should have completed at least one music learning theory workshop or seminar prior to enrollment. All participants must be able to read and write music. Students who wish to participate in a Level II must meet the special entrance requirements.
