High school and college students focus on skills during this five-day intensive chamber music workshop focused on developing musicianship skills – the listening, rhythmic and ensemble skills that go into making chamber music.
Beyond the Notes is now part of the Carolina Summer Music Conservatory.
Students study repertoire with USC music faculty in small chamber ensembles and together
in a chamber orchestra culminating in a performance on the last day.
Each day is divided between chamber music coachings, rehearsals, master classes, chamber orchestra and private lessons. A jazz strings session with faculty Bert Ligon, director of Jazz Studies is also included.
A teacher recommendation is required to participate, and limited scholarships are available.
