Background

George Krempley is faculty lecturer of risk management and insurance and serves as co-director of the Moore’s School’s Risk and Uncertainty Management Center. He has more than 35 years of in-depth insurance and risk management industry experience. In addition to extensive experience in senior management, Krempley brings proven project management expertise to the university. He has led major projects in operational redesign, work efficiency, quality improvement, strategic planning, IT applications, mergers and turnarounds.

Krempley earned his B.A. in Philosophy from Colgate University. Later, he attended the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird) where he was awarded his MBA in International Management with distinction.  Following graduate school, Krempley was recruited into INA’s prestigious executive intern program. He became INA’s youngest general manager and, after the CIGNA merger, rose to vice president of Planning and Operations Research for the Claims and Reinsurance divisions.

Subsequently, Krempley moved to the American Automobile Association where he became managing director of Insurance Services, as well as chief operating officer of AAA Life. While at AAA, Krempley led the effort to acquire Automobile Club Insurance Company, ultimately becoming its president/CEO. Following divestiture of the company by AAA, he served as CEO of a professional liability insurance company specializing in the lawyers market. Later, he became president and chief executive officer of NAMIC Insurance Company. Most recently, Krempley was as a principal consultant for Robert E. Nolan Company. As a Nolan consultant, he managed major engagements with numerous companies including State Farm, Nationwide, Liberty Mutual, Kentucky Farm Bureau, American Family, Provident Mutual, West Bend, Church Mutual and Cooperators of Canada.  

Krempley brings excellent experience in academia. He served as an adjunct faculty member at Ohio State University, where he regularly taught risk management and insurance courses over a period of five years. During his tenure at OSU, he co-developed the university’s graduate course in Enterprise Risk Management and doubled undergraduate enrollment in RMI courses. He has also served on the visiting faculty at Florida State University in the Risk Management and Insurance department. He is also a past chairman of the board of the Griffith Foundation of Insurance Education.
