Mary Ruffin Weaver Childs earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the Darla Moore School of Business before eventually becoming Development Coordinator and Annual Fund Manager at Palmetto Health Foundation in Columbia. After her seven-year career there, she accepted a position at her alma mater, as the Assistant Executive Director of Marketing, Membership and Communications at the University of South Carolina Alumni Association (My Carolina) where she has been for more than 16 years. During her tenure at the alumni association, she co-founded the national Council for Alumni Membership and Marketing Professionals, presented at numerous CASE conferences, and was a contributing author to “Marketing Opportunities for Financial Gain and Alumni Benefit” in Alumni Relations – A Newcomer’s Guide to Success, Second Edition and “Cultivating a Tradition of Giving Among the ‘Next Greatest Generation’” in The Senior Year, Culminations, Experiences and Traditions. While at My Carolina, she played a lead role in securing multi-million dollar affinity partnerships, initiated the brand of “My Carolina” and doubled the membership.
As a graduate of Leadership Columbia, and past President of the Junior League of Columbia, Mary Ruffin has an appreciation for volunteerism and community involvement. Mary Ruffin is an enthusiastic Gamecocks fan, and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She looks forward to connecting and strengthening the network of the 44,000 Darla Moore School of Business alumni around the globe who are doing amazing work, and together extending the powerful brand of USC.
