The Department of Marketing at the Darla Moore School of Business is widely acclaimed for its scholarly expertise in various facets of consumer psychology, marketing strategy, research methods, behavioral pricing and marketing communications. In the discipline's most respected academic journals, the department has been ranked for many years among the top 25 marketing departments throughout the world.

Undergraduate Marketing

The Department of Marketing offers an undergraduate marketing major focusing on the process of planning and executing the development, pricing, distributions and promotion of services, products and ideas. The marketing major also covers the study of economic, cultural, demographic and attitudinal factors that influence demand for products and services.

 

Ph.D. in Marketing

The primary objective of the Ph.D. in marketing at the Moore School is to provide doctoral students with the best training possible to maximize career opportunities in university teaching and research. This concentration offers intensive training in research methodology and theory applicable to scholarly marketing and buyer behavior issues.

 

Teaching excellence evidenced by recognition

The marketing department is strongly committed to teaching excellence at all levels of instruction, as evidenced by the many teaching awards received by its faculty.

  • Two holders of the AMOCO Outstanding Teaching Award, presented annually to a single faculty member campus-wide for excellence in undergraduate instruction.
  • Two holders of the Michael J. Mungo Teaching Award
  • Four awardees of Mortar Board Excellence in Teaching Awards
  • Five awardees of the Alfred G. Smith, Jr. Excellence in Teaching Award, which is presented annually to top teachers in the business school.
  • Two marketing faculty members have been selected by various groups of master's students to receive awards for excellence in teaching core or elective courses.
