Lunch at Coconut Joes (Isle of Palms).
Three panelists will discuss the legal issues associated with coastal development and the specific examples of those issues present at Wild Dunes. The discussion will include a question and answer session with symposium participants.
Following the panel discussion, the panelists and symposium participants will engage in a walk and talk around Wild Dunes and to the property that was at issue in Lucas v. South Carolina Coastal Council.
Our panelists will include the following:
Bill Eiser, Eiser Coastal Consulting. Mr. Eiser formerly served as the Chief Geologist at the South Carolina Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management.
Mary Shahid, Nexsen Pruet. Ms. Shahid formerly served in the General Counsel’s office of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control as Chief Counsel of the coastal permitting office. Currently, Ms. Shaid serves as a partner in Nexsen Pruet’s Charleston office.
Andy Gowder, Austen & Gowder, LLC. Mr. Gowder is the former Chair of the American Bar Association’s State and Local Government Section.
