College Sport Research Institute

The mission of the College Sport Research Institute is to encourage and support interdisciplinary and inter-university collaborative college-sport research, serve as a research consortium for college-sport researchers from across the United States, and disseminate college-sport research results to academics, college-sport practitioners and the general public.

The world of college sport is rapidly evolving. As a result, issues arise with increasing regularity. Our organizational goal is to create awareness of these questions and to foster creative solutions.

The center's vision is to provide opportunities for independent, organized and focused cross-disciplinary research regarding college sport in the United States. Specifically, CSRI is committed to serving as a national clearinghouse for college sports research, building research capacity – both internally and externally – that increases the ability of students, faculty, and college-sport practitioners to perform research into issues in college sport.

To that end, we host an annual conference, providing researchers from across the U.S. a forum for sharing their innovative work. In addition, we sponsor the Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics (JIIA) — a peer-reviewed, open-access resource that promotes discussion and examination of vital issues facing college athletics moving forward.
