Whitney Jett is a first-year advisor in the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management at the University. Prior to Jett's current role, she worked in the field of secondary and post-secondary education for many years.
Teaching college readiness in K-12 as a graduation coach and as a pre-college advisor for Darlington County GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) and USC TRiO: Educational Talent Search program, along with teaching University 101 for first-year students, shaped her ability to understand first-year students in a unique capacity. In these roles, Jett learned the importance of developing new theories on higher education student development. For Jett, these experiences also underlined the significance of having a student-centered approach to advising and working with students.
Jett is excited to be a part of the University’s innovative program advising first-year students. She enjoys advising students in their academic requirements for graduation and career-related success.
