Columbia is an ideal city to explore during your college years. Many students choose to stay after graduation, because the vibrant city offers so many opportunities for young professionals.
We believe students should learn outside of the classroom for a well-rounded experience. In fact, Honors College students are required to pursue real-world learning. There are a number of ways to meet this requirement and even more ways to have a great experience while you're here.
All incoming first-year students are encouraged to apply to live in the Honors Residence Hall. This state-of-the-art building is one of the most desirable residence halls on campus. You may also choose to live on campus with other Honors College students beyond your first year.
Internships are one way to fulfill the Honors College Beyond the Classroom requirement and can also count as academic credit. These opportunities will help you prepare for life after graduation by providing you with real world experience and valuable professional relationships.
National fellowships provide external recognition for the amazing things that Honors College students do, and offer a chance to reflect on experiences you’ve had on campus and beyond, as well as think about your future goals.
Service learning enhances every student's academic experience while benefitting the local community. Giving back is a value we actively cultivate in our students.
The Honors College actively encourages students to enrich their educational experience by studying away from campus, and we offer many opportunities to do so.
The opportunity to do research is an important one for undergraduate students. The Honors College offers funding for undergraduate research across disciplines in order to promote intellectual growth and to encourage excellence in scholarship.
