Dr. Kay Thomas is clinical associate professor and assistant dean for student affairs and diversity. As an administrator in the Honors College, she oversees Honors advisement, the senior thesis requirement and advises the Black Honors Caucus.  In her faculty role, she teaches courses related to her research on social capital, social networks and upward mobility.  Recently she taught a class on social capital for the Honors College in Rome, Italy and has presented her research at national and international conferences. Her favorite roles in the Honors College are working directly with students as an academic advisor and discussing senior thesis ideas. 

Dr. Thomas' professional background is diverse, combining 15 years as an experienced leader in higher education with a strong expertise in academic and student affairs.  When she is not spending time with students, Kay is either volunteering in the community or spending time with her daughter, planning their next adventure.
