Identifying Patient-specific Risk Factors for Large Vessel Ischemic Stroke

 

The project focuses on relating computed hemodynamic stresses acting on carotid atherosclerotic plaques, based on patient-specific CT images, to gene and protein expression levels in human endarterectomy specimens.  Mechanical behavior of the excised plaques is also characterized.  This is a collaborative effort with vascular surgeons at Greenville Hospital System.
