Megan is a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Rutvik Desai's lab, where she studies the neural basis of processing concepts. In particular, she is interested in using functional neuroimaging and noninvasive brain stimulation to study the role of the anterior temporal lobe across retrieval of many different types of semantic information. This is a region of the brain which is often damaged in neurodegenerative patients and has been implicated in many different linguistic processes, but the roles of particular areas within this region are not well understood. Megan received her Ph.D. from Brown University in 2015, where her thesis investigated how the brain processes concept-specific information (e.g., a zebra has stripes) differently from category-general information (e.g., a zebra has four legs and a tail).
