Contest Overview

Our tentative itinerary for February 3rd, 2018, is as follows:

Registration in the lobby of Gambrell Hall

Morning Exam

9:30 am - 11:00 am   The Mornign Exam consists of 30 multiple choice questions. Each question is followed by answers marked a, b, c, d, and e. Only one of these is the correct answer. A student gets 5 points for each correct answer, 1 point for each blank answer, and 0 points for each incorrect answer.  No calculators are allowed! Students should be seated by 9:45 A.M.

Solutions for Teachers

9:45 am - 10:45 am While the students are working on the Morning Exam, a presentation of its solutions will be given to the teachers.

11:00 am - 1:00 pm On campus, Russell House (corner of Greene and Bull) provides several options

Scavenger Hunt

11:40 am - 12:40 pm A math-themed scavenger hunt for partipating schools at the Horseshoe. This is a team activity where teams may contain one through four students all of whom must attend the same school. Each school may have multiple teams, yet no student may participate on more than one team.

Team Round

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm In Gambrell Hall (Classrooms assigned on the day of the contest), Teams of at least eleven members (possibly from different schools) may participate.

Top-8 Tournament

2:30 pm - 3:15 pm The top 8 scorers from the Morning Exsam will be pitted against each other for an elimination round. . The first two participants to obtain 3 points in this round will advance to the final round. Medals are awarded to all tournament participants. Plaques are awarded to the winner and runner-up.

Awards Ceremony

3:30 pm - 4:00 pm Invited speakers will say a few words and then all awards will be presented. Door prizes will be given away to throughout the afternoon. You must be present to win. Some prizes will be for students, others for schools.
