- New Arts and Humanities Grant Program is announced
The Office of the Provost is sponsoring a new pilot program to support scholarship and creative achievement in the Arts and Humanities. - Provost Visits to Departments, Colleges, and Schools Scheduled

A new website outlines the policies and procedures required for the development and revision of academic programs and courses at all levels and throughout the USC system. - Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP):
CALL FOR PAPERS
The Provost Office is issuing a call for proposals for USC's QEP, a five-year project aimed at improving student learning. Cash prizes of $2,500 will be awarded to the four best papers. Proposals are due October 30, 2009. - Academic Leadership Workshops
The Provost Office is sponsoring three professional development workshops this fall for deans, associate/assistant deans, chairs, program directors, committee chairs and any other interested senior faculty. - Dr. Michael Amiridis named Provost
Dr. Michael Amiridis, dean of the College of Engineering and Computing, has been named vice president for academic affairs and provost. - Dr. Tom Chandler named dean of the Arnold School of Public Health
Dr. G. Thomas “Tommy” Chandler, interim dean of the Arnold School of Public Health since August 2007, has been named dean of the school, effective immediately. - Dr. Stephen Kresovich named new VP for Research and Graduate Education
Dr. Stephen Kresovich, vice provost for life sciences and professor at Cornell University, has been named vice president for research and graduate education at Carolina, effective Oct.1. - $5 million Smith & Nephew investment to fund new CoEE
A global medical technology company has announced a $5 million investment in a new partnership with the University of South Carolina to fund the Center of Economic Excellence in Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Sciences. - Full board OK's budget; tuition increase lowest in 8 years
The USC Board of Trustees approved the 2009-10 operating budget on June 26, 2009. The budget adheres to President Pastides’ pledge to keep a tuition increase modest while maintaining the university’s core mission of excellence in teaching, research and service. - Internal Provost Search Candidates: PRESENTATION WEBCASTS
Three internal candidates made presentations to the University community on June 16th. Presentation webcasts are available online. Evaluation forms should be returned by June 25th. - Arnold School study reveals benefits of quercetin
A study by researchers at the Arnold School of Public Health shows that the powerful antioxidant/anti-inflammatory compound found in fruits and vegetables significantly boosts endurance capacity and maximal oxygen capacity (VO2max) in healthy, active but untrained men and women. - Internal Provost Candidate Presentations: UPDATE
