SCAMP
FUNDING PROGRAMS
The South Carolina Alliance for Minority Participation at USC supports programs for undergraduate minority students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines.
ELIGIBILITY:
- underrepresented minority as defined by the National Science Foundation (African-American, Hispanic American, or Native American)
- citizen or legal resident of the United States
- minimum GPA of 3.0 with established financial need
- undergraduate seeking a bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, any natural science, or computer science
FUNDING PROGRAMS: [All programs subject to funding availability]
- Summer Scholarship Program: Students transferring from a Tech school or a USC system campus in a STEM discipline may be eligible for $375/hr. for up to 7 hours of coursework that can be applied towards the STEM degree.
- Academic Year Scholarship Program - Students transferring from a Tech school or a USC system campus in a STEM discipline may be eligible for up to $750/semester (Fall and Spring semesters) that can be applied towards the STEM degree.
- Undergraduate Research Program: Students will participate in a research project under the direction of a USC professor for 10-12 hours per week and present the results of the project at the Discovery Day research conference in the spring semester. Students are supported in the semester by a $2500 stipend.
- Summer Research Program: Students will participate in a research project under the direction of a USC professor full-time (37.5 hours per week) for 8 weeks during the summer, hours per week and present the results of the project at the SCAMP research conference. Students will receive a $4000 stipend.
