FULBRIGHT GRANT Workshop:
Monday, August 23, at 4 p.m., Gressette Room, Harper College 3rd floor
Available to graduating seniors and graduate students who articulate a well-defined program
involving study, research or teaching English to be carried out in a particular international academic setting for one year.
Fluency in the host language is preferred, and an appreciation for cross-cultural exchange and a strong background
in American Culture and current events of the host country are critical in selection.

GATES CAMBRIDGE SCHOLARSHIP Workshop:
Wednesday, August 25, at 4 p.m., Legare College 322
Available to individuals who are well-informed on global issues and have a record of superior academic achievement
and outstanding service and leadership. This highly competitive scholarship covers one to three years of graduate
study at Cambridge.

JAVITS FELLOWSHIP Workshop:
Wednesday, September 1, at 4 p.m., Legare College 322
Available to students of superior academic ability with demonstrated achievements and promise who
will pursue doctoral or masters of Fine Arts (MFA) degrees. These awards cover graduate study in selected
fields of the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

TRUMAN SCHOLARSHIP Workshop:
Wednesday, September 8, at 4 p.m., Legare College 322
Available to juniors (any major) preparing for a career in public service with demonstrated leadership
abilities, academic achievement and potential, community service accomplishments, and a commitment to
public service. This highly competitive scholarship provides up to $30,000 for graduate school.
Must be nominated by the University.

GOLDWATER SCHOLARSHIP Workshop:
Monday, September 13, at 4 p.m., Legare College 322
Available for sophomores and juniors pursuing bachelors' degrees in natural sciences, mathematics,
or engineering, who have a strong GPA, research experience and a commitment to a research career.
This highly competitive scholarship provides $7,500 for one to two years of undergraduate study.
Must be nominated by the University.

WRITING PERSONAL STATEMENTS FOR NATIONAL FELLOWSHIP APPLICATIONS Workshop:
Tuesday, September 14, at 3:30 p.m., Thomas Cooper Library 304L
Open to students writing an essay for a national fellowship: we will talk about the process of crafting
a winning essay and spend time putting those insights into practice. Essay prompts will be provided
but bring any essays in progress.

NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION (NSF) GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP Workshop:
Wednesday, September 22, at 4 p.m., Gressette Room, Harper College 3rd floor
Available to students with high GPA and high GRE scores and a commitment to a career in research.
This highly competitive scholarship provides three years of support (up to $115,000) for study and research
in the sciences or in engineering, leading to masters or doctoral degrees in the mathematical, physical,
biological, engineering, behavioral and social sciences, and in the history and philosophy of sciences.
Application Deadlines vary according to discipline in early November, 2010.

BOREN/NATIONAL SECURITY EDUCATION PROGRAM (NSEP) Workshop:
Tuesday, October 5, at 4 p.m., Gressette Room, Harper College 3rd floor
Available to undergraduate and graduate students interested in national security (broadly defined) who
demonstrate high levels of academic performance and strong motivation to develop expertise in languages,
cultures and world regions less commonly studied by Americans. This prestigious award provides up to
$20,000 for undergraduates or $30,000 for graduate students.

Wednesday, October 20, at 4 p.m., Legare College 322
Available to sophomores and juniors with at least a B or equivalent GPA who have demonstrated commitment
to careers related to the environment, or Native Americans and Alaska Natives who have outstanding potential
and are in fields related to health care, the environment, or tribal public policy. This highly competitive
scholarship provides one year of support for eligible expenses up to a maximum of $5,000. Must be nominated
by the University.

RHODES, MITCHELL, AND MARSHALL SCHOLARSHIPS Workshop:
Monday, October 25 at 4 p.m., Legare College 322
Available for one to three years of graduate study in various institutions in the UK and Ireland for
students who have a record of superior academic achievement, service and leadership and are well informed
on global issues. The University must nominate applicants in each competition.
Application Deadline: August 2011.

ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP Workshop:
Monday, November 1 at 4 p.m., Gressette Room, Harper College 3rd floor
Available to students at all class levels who are interested in serving as ambassadors while studying issues
of hunger, health and sanitation, education, and peace in any country where Rotary clubs are located.
