Last fall the College kicked off an alumni annual giving campaign called the Fifty Forever Promise Campaign. Over the past several years, state funding to support the University has continued to decline. The College of Nursing has been hit particularly hard by these cuts and created the Fifty Forever Promise Campaign to increase alumni support for the College’s Carolina Fund, which is our lifeline. The monies raised through our Carolina Fund support the College and enable us to provide our students with the best educational experience possible.
To raise awareness and generate support from our alumni for the campaign, last fall we initiated a challenge to all of our alumni classes to see who could generate the highest total giving and most participation. To inspire our alumni and to encourage class camaraderie, each year, the winning classes will get a name plate placed on the Mary Ann Parsons Wall of Excellence – our donor wall, which is on the second floor of our college (outside of the Dean’s office).
This year’s winning class for BOTH categories is the Class of 1968. The Class of 1968 also completed a pledge to establish an endowed scholarship. They not only exceeded their fundraising goal, but they also did so in just under three years. Congratulations to the Class of 1968!
