Two clinical faculty join USC School of Medicine ObGyn Dept.
Dr. Allison M. Westcott and Dr. Allison B. Giddings have joined the University of South Carolina School of Medicine department of obstetrics and gynecology as full-time clinical faculty members.
Both will treat patients and work with medical students and residents in the School of Medicine’s ObGyn department. Giddings will also see patients at the department’s University Specialty Clinics office at 2 Richland Medical Park, Suite 107. New patients can call 803 779 4928 ext 212 to make an appointment.
Dr. Judy Burgis, chair of the department, said Westcott and Giddings are welcome additions to the department.
“I am delighted that these two young physicians have joined our department. Their presence and their energy will enhance our educational mission and our 24/7 patient care,” Burgis said.
Westcott, a laborist, will work in labor and delivery at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. Burgis said Westcott is providing much-needed nighttime coverage for labor and delivery patients. She also has developed a program for students and residents that will compliment the education provided by full-time day faculty.
Westcott earned her medical degree from the University of Toledo School of Medicine in 2007 and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Palmetto Health Richland.
Giddings, who will begin Aug. 16, will join the University Specialty Clinics. Giddings earned her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Washington and Lee University with a degree in biology.
