S.C. Honors College dean candidates to visit campus

Four candidates for dean of the South Carolina Honors College at the University of South Carolina have been invited to visit the campus for interviews in March and April.

The four, who were identified by a search committee led by Dean Thomas Chandler of the Arnold School of Public Health, are Dr. George Arasimowicz, founding dean of Arts, Media and Communication at Wheaton College and recent dean of Arts and Sciences at the University of California at Dominguez Hills; Dr. Steven Lynn, senior associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at USC Columbia and former chair of USC’s English department; Dr. Robert Pratt, professor and recent chair of the history department at the University of Georgia; and Dr. Marjean Purinton, associate dean of the Honors College at Texas Technical University in Lubbock.

Dates of the respective campus visits are as follows:

Pratt: March 2-3
Lynn: March 21-22
Arasimowicz: March 29-30
Purinton: April 11-12

Dr. Tayloe Harding, dean of the School of Music, has served as interim dean of the South Carolina Honors College since August.
