Science and Health Communication Research Group to co-sponsor healthcare panel discussion

Join fellow students, staff, and professors in an open forum panel discussion to review the legislative process to date, followed by a clarification and de-mystification of proposed health care reform legislation- with an emphasis on topics most relevant to the University community. The forum will close with a discussion of steps for effecting policy change through engagement and action, with time for questions and answers.

The Science and Health Communication Research Group will co-sponsor the event along with the College of Social Work, the Institute for Partnerships to Eliminate Health Disparities and the South Carolina Access Initiative. The panel discussion will be held from 4:00-5:30 on November 16 at the University of South Carolina in the School of Law auditorium.

Speakers will include, Darcy Freedman, Assistant Professor, College of Social Work, Steve Beckham, University Government Affairs Liaison, John Ruoff, Research Director South Carolina Fair Share and Alan Tauber, President of the University Graduate Student Association. Charles Bierbauer, Dean of the College of Mass Communication and Informational Studies will moderate the event.

The forum is free and open to the public and refreshments will be provided.
