If you love being in Green Quad University 101, then GSP is for you! The Green Scholars Program (GSP) is made up of first year students in the Green Quad Learning Community that are smart, productive, and passionate about their world. As a Green Scholar you'll learn more about sustainability through a Spring seminar course and continue to build relationships with your fellow Green Scholars through events and community service. You'll also receive one-on-one coaching that will help you progress toward your future goals. This program gets you on track to Graduate with Leadership Distinction and serves as a bridge for students that want to pursue the Sustainable Carolina Leadership Program.Green Quad Resident Government
What do you want to see happen in the Green Quad? If you have an answer to this question or if you simply want to be a part of developing the answer, get involved with Green Quad Resident Government! This group serves as the voice for all residential students in Green Quad and has the opportunity to develop programming and advocacy initiatives in making Green Quad a great place! The group will work with the Resident Government Advisor and other professional staff members across campus in making a positive change for the community.
Leaders will be voted into positions by the entire Green Quad Community to properly represent the residential voice for Green Quad. Students serving in Resident Government will gain a greater understanding of budgeting, event planning, and legislative writing, which have proven to be great marketable skills for future professional opportunities. Step up to the plate and join today! Any Green Quad resident can support Resident Government initiatives by attending bi-weekly open forum meetings, submitting program ideas, or just speaking up during monthly Community Gatherings.
Sustainable Carolina is a student organization that has several signature events, opportunities to develop employability through professional development workshops, volunteer opportunities in the garden and at the Farmers Market, and great people that will turn into lifelong friends.Sustainable Carolina Garden at Green Quad
The Sustainable Carolina Garden sits behind the Green Quad and serves as a great space to connect with nature and grow some delicious food! You'll have the opportunity to volunteer in the garden weekly where you can help grow, nurture, and harvest food. This is a great opportunity to get your hands dirty and grow new skills. If you love it, you'll even have the opportunity to become a Garden Guide and lead groups of volunteers in the garden.EcoReps
EcoReps are student peer leaders committed to making a difference in the residence halls at USC. They attend a weekly group meeting and resident government meetings, work on community campaigns, and hold sustainable events throughout the year.Students Engaged in Aquatic Sciences (SEAS)
SEAS is an undergraduate marine science society for students from any major with an interest in the ocean. It's a great way for you to get to know other students as well as the faculty from the School of the Earth, Ocean and Environment. Plant-Based Pals is an organization that aims to act as a meeting place for anyone that lives (or is interested in/curious about) a plant-based lifestyle. You do not have to be vegan or vegetarian to be in the club, we simply hope that you will be willing to try new things and keep an open mind. We hope to make new friends, suggest relevant documentaries/books, discuss controversies, volunteer in the gardens, have potlucks, and inspire each other to try something new!
