Filing a Complaint

Discrimination and harassment are against the law and University policy. It is the policy of the University to enforce strictly campus policies, which prohibit acts of discrimination against or harassment of students based on:

  • age,
  • race,
  • color,
  • sex,
  • gender,
  • religion,
  • national origin,
  • disability,
  • genetics,
  • or veteran status,

Any student, faculty, or staff with a complaint of discrimination or discriminatory harassment should contact the University's Office of Equal Opportunity Programs. Students can file complaints against faculty, staff, other students, student organizations, or any entity affiliated with or doing business with the University. If you feel that you have been subjected to discrimination or harassment, based on any of the above protected bases, contact the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs at (803) 777-3854 for assistance, or submit your information to the University's Office of Equal Opportunity Programs using the Complaint Form, below.

Department Head Incident Report Form:

All Department Heads are required to submit allegations of discrimination and harassment to the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs. Please complete the online complaint form below if you have received reports or allegations of discrimination, harassment, or any form of sexual misconduct:

The Office of Equal Opportunity Programs will also:

  • Listen to your concerns
  • Assist you in finding options to resolve your concerns
  • Clarify and explain University non-discrimination policies and procedures and how they apply to you
  • Advise you of the University's confidentiality practices
  • Refer you to other departments or offices for additional support or mediation as appropriate
  • Advise you of your rights and recourse under the law and University policy

If you decide to file an EOP complaint, the staff will:

  • Walk you through the complaint process
  • Ask you to provide a written statement about the incident(s)
  • Provide an opportunity for you to identify witnesses or individuals who will support your claim
  • Investigate the complaint
  • Keep you informed of the progress of the investigation
  • Advise you of the outcome of the investigation
  • Direct the findings of the investigation to appropriate University personnel for review and appropriate action

EOP complaints should be filed no less than 180 days from the date of the alleged incident(s).
