Founded in 1967, USC Upstate offers degree programs in the liberal arts and sciences, business administration, nursing, and teacher education, as well as master's degrees in education. USC Upstate is home to 4,500 students from 38 states and 71 nations.
USC Upstate programs and initiatives include:
• a highly visible campus entrance, funded by the S.C. Department of Transportation, State Infrastructure Bank, USC Upstate, and the County of Spartanburg to provide easier, faster, and safer accessibility, improved traffic flow, expansion of existing roads, and creation of new roads.
• construction of the Health Education Complex, a $24 million, 150,000-square-foot building that will house the Mary Black School of Nursing, School of Education, enrollment services, bookstore, and a wellness/fitness center.
• a Nursing Education Blue Ribbon Focus Group, composed of Spartanburg Technical College, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, and USC Upstate, which raises awareness of the nursing shortage and leverages political and financial assistance with appropriate agencies.
