Basic Software for Public Health

CLASS SESSION: Monday, July 07, 2014-Wednesday, July 30, 2014

General Information: Students will be required to attend one orientation session via live chat on Adobe Connect on Monday, July 7, 10 - 11 a.m. USC Columbia students will attend the orientation in Wardlaw College, Room 116; all other students will view orientation via the Internet and may call in with questions. Adobe Connect URL will be posted in Blackboard by the instructor prior to the orientation session.

On-Campus Sessions/Orientation Information: Students will be required to attend five sessions at USC Columbia in the Health Sciences Building, Room 204. There will be four lab sessions: July 8, 15, 22, 29, and the final exam: Wednesday, July 30, 10 - 12:30 p.m.

Course Delivery Type: Over 50% Web Delivery: A Web course is taught using one or more web delivery platforms such as Blackboard, Streaming Video, Adobe Connect etc. Students must have access to a high-speed Internet connection. More information will be provided by the instructor in the course syllabus.

Credit: 1 semester hour of graduate credit

Graduate Bulletin Course Description: Working with public health data using statistical software. Effective ways to collect, store, clean, merge, and format public health data for analysis.
