CLASS SESSION: Monday, January 13, 2014-Monday, April 28, 2014

General Information: This course in histology involves learning the microscopic architecture and function of cells, tissues and organs of the human body. Graduate students who enroll in this course will be afforded the opportunity to compare human and animal histology. The course content is presented via interactive lectures and virtual labs. A unique feature of this course is the use of virtual microscopy to examine specimens over the Internet using a browser interface instead of a microscope. Learning is facilitated by practice quizzes and assessed by both open- and closed-book examinations.

NOTE: All prospective students are required to read this document which includes important information about this course. The document includes a link to a very informative 6 minute video about this course.

Course Delivery Type: Web: A Web course is taught using one or more web delivery platforms such as Blackboard, Streaming Video, Adobe Connect etc. Students must have access to a high-speed Internet connection. More information will be provided by the instructor in the course syllabus.

(100% asynchronous - if course has any online or face-to-face meetings, live attendance will not be required. For any such sessions, there will be alternative ways to view or obtain the material covered).

Credit: 4 semester hours of undergraduate/graduate credit

Bulletin Course Description: An introduction to the tissues that make up the human body. The microscopic anatomy of tissues is examined and discussed in terms of function and physiology. Note: Three lecture hours and four laboratory hours per week.
