Tywanna Whorley
The Measure of a Man:
Redefining Martin Luther King, Jr. Through His Papers

Student Comments

  • Dr. Whorley knows a wealth of information about King’s life, and her presentation made the job of archivist seem very interesting (especially in terms of the depth with which they can get to know about someone’s life). One of the most interesting little-known facts about King was that after he was stabbed, he had a cross-shaped scar over his heart.
  • Very interesting. Definitely learned a ton about archival and Dr. King’s life. Quite worthwhile.
  • Very insightful presentation. I feel like much of MLK Jr.’s background is skipped over in history classes and this was helpful information.
  • This presentation was very well done, very interesting.
  • The presentation makes me want to learn more about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
  • Very interesting, made me realize how influential King really was, impacted so many people. Captivating presentation.
  • I thought it was cool MLK Jr. was interviewed by Playboy. I’ve considered getting a Master’s in Library & Information Science so I thought it was cool to hear about the project she’s working on. I think it’s amazing he kept so many documents and letters.
  • Very informative. She did a great job of not only describing her work, but also made the information interesting. It’s amazing how much you can learn just from old transcripts of books and speeches.
  • The presentation was a very good learning experience and taught me a lot of things I didn’t know about Martin Luther King, Jr.
