Kate Albright-Hanna
Political Power of Online Video
Student Comments
- You can tell that Kate Albright-Hanna is passionate about using
her abilities to promote a positive, emotional, informational
message. She isn’t focused on flashy videos or making
video popular, yet her work is very innovative. I really enjoyed
her presentation—it was inspiring.
- I like that Ms. Albright-Hanna’s job and presentation
involves using journalism techniques for a more specific, more
personal branch of communication. I also like how straightforward
she presented everything.
- This presentation was very informative. I felt like she
really loves what she does and she is very passionate about
visual communications. A new form of visual journalism seems
to be growing, so that makes me excited. I’m really happy I
got to see her talk.
- Very interesting person and good example of a new media
career for students.
- This was one of the best guest speakers I have ever listened
to. It’s enlightening in the process of the campaign.
Just listening to someone who has made it in this field of
new media was encouraging to me!
- Very interesting to learn a personal perspective on new
media. I didn’t really understand what new media was before
her presentation. Also, I now believe new media is so much
more effective than TV advertising, which feels so artificial.
I don’t want to be force-fed information—I’d
rather create my own perspective and opinion through learning
how people respond to changes. Observational learning makes
me feel like an American—free to form my own opinion
and react to it. New media respects my rights as an American.
- I am a VisCom major and the presentation gave me more confidence
in my choice of this as a major.
- Really inspiring to break the mold and do what is new and
true. Makes me feel like journalism and advertising don’t need
to be propaganda. She herself was really cool and seemed so
authentic and seemed to really be great at what she was doing
without trying too hard.
- Kate Albright-Hanna’s job seems very interesting and
her contributions to the Obama campaign were instrumental in
the election. I learned about how the creative community has
become actively intertwined in today’s political campaigns
through Web sites, blogs, banners, signs and videos.
