For Hunter Summerford, it was the hands-on practicum at the University’s McCutchen House that reinforced his career plan.
“That semester, I learned how a restaurant is run,” he said. “The hospitality industry seemed like a fun, high-energy field. That’s important to me.
“As night manager of the Doubletree Guest Suites in the Historic District, I take care of special requests for business groups and events, and just generally make sure everything works smoothly throughout the night,” said Summerford, a 2007 graduate of the hotel, retail, and tourism management program. “I started as an intern here, working at the front desk, and then I stayed after graduation.”
