Meet your Capstone House Residence Life Coordinator!
As the Residence Life Coordinator for the Capstone House, Ashley Langston, supervises 15 Resident Mentors. Home to mostly first-year Capstone Scholar students at USC the students can truly live by the program’s motto “Dream Big! Impact the Community. Leave a Legacy.”
Ashley earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing and Management along with her M.Ed from the College of Education with a specialization in Higher Education and Student Affairs at the University of South Florida. She also spent a year as a Traveling Leadership Consultant for Zeta Tau Alpha working on leadership development, officer education, chapter organization, and supervision of membership recruitment. During Summer 2010, Ashley served as an intern at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT, where she worked to develop a Peer Diversity Dialogue Program and a Residential Curriculum.
Ashley’s professional interests include learning communities, Greek life, campus recreation, and orientation. Her personal interests include spending time with family and friends, baking, boating, and staying healthy!

1st year Capstone Scholars are strongly encouraged to live in Capstone House, a suite style residence hall located in the north area of campus. Many Capstone Scholars events take place in Capstone House, which is a wonderful social environment. The Capstone Scholars program also works closely with the Capstone House Hall Government to co-sponsor a variety of events. Located in Capstone House is Gibbes Court, one of many dining locations on campus. Each Wednesday, Capstone Scholars staff enjoys lunch with the Capstone Scholars at an event called “Hickey Bites.”
2nd year Capstone Scholars are encouraged to remain in Capstone House. Housing priority for 2nd year Capstone Scholars is based on a point system. Capstone Scholars earn points for attending all Capstone Scholars events, earning a good GPA, studying abroad, applying for the research grants, poster presentation at Discovery Day, being a leader in a student organization, internships, etc. More information concerning the point system can be found under HERE.

What are the benefits of living in Capstone House?
Capstone is a suite-style residence hall with rooms slightly larger than those of typical freshmen residential centers. Capstone has classrooms used for Capstone Scholars University 101 sections and special events. Capstone House also has a dining hall on the ground floor for added convenience.
How do I make sure that I am housed with the Capstone Scholars?
On the VIP housing application, select Capstone House as the first choice. Make sure to submit the housing application by the May 1 deadline.
Do I have to room with a Capstone Scholar?
First priority to live in Capstone House is given to Capstone Scholars with a Capstone Scholar roommate. For any questions concerning housing, please contact University Housing at 803-777-4283.
