The Behavioral-Biomedical Interface Program
The University of South Carolina offers a special interdisciplinary
research training program called the Behavioral-Biomedical Program (BBIP).
BBIP is supported in part by a National Institutes of Health T32
pre-doctoral research training grant via the National Institute of
General Medical Sciences. The program is designed for select students
beginning their doctoral studies in Epidemiology, Exercise Science, or
Psychology.

Current BBIP students from left to right: Erin Howie, Sandra Coulon, C’iana Barker, Neve Trumpeter,
Andrea Maslow, (second row to the left) Dr. Rose Booze, Mandy Morgan, Alyssa Schlenz, Mike Wirth,
Joe Holbrook, Dr. Ron Prinz, (third row to the left) Tim Barnes, and Reilly Enos.
Purpose of BBIP:
This interface program aims to prepare behavioral scientists in
training to biomedical/biological content and methods so that they will
function effectively as members of interdisciplinary research teams.
Theme of BBIP:
The thematic emphasis for BBIP is on health-related
research problems that are linked to prevention science, the
developmental sciences, or both.
BBIP is for well-prepared doctoral students who are pursuing a
research career in the health sciences.
